Here’s how you can link Aadhaar to ration card online, offline

Mumbai: Ration card is an essential proof to get food grains, fuel at a subsidized rate. With more number of fake ration cards cropping up, the government has decided to link ration cards with an individual’s Aadhaar card.

Aadhaar is a 12 digit unique-identity number issued to all Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic data.

From insurance policies to mobile SIM, the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has mandated the Aadhaar for carrying out a number of tasks.

Here’s how you can link Aadhaar card to Ration card online:

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website – https://uidai.gov.in/

Step 2: Click on “Start Now”.

Step 3: Enter your credentials – name, residential address

Step 4: Under ‘option menu’, select the ‘Benefit Type’ and click on “Ration Card”

Step 5: Enter your ration card number, Aadhaar number, email address and mobile number

Step 6: You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number

Step 7: Enter the OTP received on your mobile to process the application.

Step 8: After successful verification of the details, you will receive a notification stating: “Congratulations! Your Aadhaar card has been linked to your ration card.”

Here’s how you can link Aadhaar card to Ration card offline:

Step 1: Take a photocopy of your Aadhaar card and ration card along with photocopies of all your family members.

Step 2: You are required to carry a photocopy of your bank passbook

Step 3: Carry a passport sized photograph of the head of the family

Step 4: Submit all these documents to the nearest ration office.

Step 5: After successful verification of the documents, you will be notified by SMS or email.
