Airport-like security at these stations! Arrive early or miss the train
New Delhi: Railways recently announced that railway stations will soon have airport-like security. Stations would be sealed before scheduled departure for security checks. The aims to enhance the security of the passengers and to stop miscreants from entering the train. Hyderabad and Secunderabad station will soon have this security service.
According to a report earlier, at each entry point, there will be random security checks. However, unlike at airports, passengers are not required to come hours in advance to board the train. They to arrive just 15-20 minutes ahead of their departure times to ensure that they are not delayed because of the security process.
Passengers travelling from Secunderabad and Hyderabad Railway Stations will soon have to arrive at stations early as the stations will be sealed before departure for security checks, reported Telangana Today. Railways is planning to install Integrated Security System (ISS) in total 202 railway stations soon. The ISS includes CCTV cameras, access control, personal and baggage screening system and bomb detection and disposal system which together provide multiple checking of passengers and baggage from the point of entry in the station premises till boarding of the train.
South Central Railway officials told the publication that the latest technology will be used and electronic mechanisms will be put into place at both Hyderabad and Secunderabad station to ensure the safety of the passengers.
A senior official was quoted in the report saying, “Latest gadgets such as luggage scanners, door frame metal detectors, hand held metal detectors and under vehicle scanners are being provided under the ISS. Indian Railways has also planned to provide CCTV based surveillance systems at stations and in trains”. The security check will include real-time face recognition software which will alert RPF in case there are any known offenders.
