Is your name, birth date in PF not matching with Aadhaar? Here’s how to correct it
The contribution you make towards your Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) from your monthly pay is a sort of forced savings that can help in amassing a portion of your retirement corpus.
At times, the name and date of birth in the provident fund (PF) statement is not correct and does not match with what is there in your Aadhaar details.
This can then result in unnecessary delays and hassles when you try to withdraw the money at the time of retirement.
EPFO has over 19 crore subscriber accounts that also include members who have retired and settled their claims. The contributing members of the EPFO are over five crore at present.
And recently, the government stated that over 8.38 crore Employee’s Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) accounts do not have the subscribers’ date of birth and in 11.07 crore accounts members’ father’s name was missing.
Currently, if the employee wants to correct basic details against the Universal Account Number (UAN), both the employee and the employer needs to give a joint request to the EPFO for any correction.
Now you can make changes to your details online for which these four things are a must:
1. Active UAN,
2. Access to EPFO’s Unified Portal website,
3. Aadhaar number,
4. Employer needs to forward the request online to EPFO.
Before you change details in the EPFO records, make sure your Aadhaar has the right information that you want to be corrected. It may so happen that you may get the below mentioned message “Aadhaar is already verified. Your details aren’t editable”, which means that your Aadhaar has already been verified and no further changes can be done. If you have to make changes in your Aadhaar details, you need to first update that, only then can changes be made to your EPFO records.

How to update your PF details
The PF updating process will happen at two levels – one at the employee level and then at the employer. Here’s how the process will flow:
* Member will submit changes online to the employer on the Member Unified Portal
* System will compare the requested changes with similar fields received from the Aadhaar platform
* After successful verification, the request will be transferred to the employer
* The employer will then forward the same along with the employee’s request online to the EPFO
* EPFO processes the requisite corrections.
Process to be followed by the employee
Step 1: Login at the Unified Portal website of the EPFO here using your UAN and password.
Step 2: Click on “Manage>Modify Basic Details”.
Step 3: Now, provide the correct details as per Aadhaar (System will verify the details entered with UIDAI- Aadhaar Data)
Step 4: On clicking “Update Details” on the previous screen, request will be submitted to the employer for further approval. Before submission by employer, employee can withdraw the request by pressing “Delete Request”
Process to be followed by the employer
Step 1: Employer will login to Employer Interface of Unified Portal
Step 2: Employer can view the change requests submitted by employees by clicking on “Member>Details Change Request”
Step 3: Employer can view the online requests received from employees and then take appropriate action by giving the proper remark.
Step 4: After approval of request, employer can see the latest status of request.
Step 5: After approval of request by employer, request will appear as a task in login of Dealing Hand, of concerned EPFO office, in the Field Office Interface of Unified Portal.
Step 6: Dealing Hand can login and view the online change requests by clicking “Member>Details Change Request”.
Step 7: Dealing Hand can login and view the online change requests by clicking “Member>DetailsChange Request”.
Step 8: After due verification, the Dealing Hand can submit his/her recommendations to the Section Supervisor. The Dealing Assistant can put the case either for Approval or Rejection by selecting the appropriate radio button, i.e., Recommended for Approval or Recommended for Rejection with proper remarks. In the same manner, the Section Supervisor can submit his/her recommendations to the regional provident fund commissioner (RPFC).
Step 9: Finally RPFC can Approve/Reject the case
How to do it offline
